Following his impressive victory in Las Vegas, the German-Scottish pro now boosts his live earnings to $1,135,117, to go with the $1,115,489 he has won online playing under the screen name ‘Ludovi333’.
The $1,600 Wynn Classic main event featured a prize pool worth $726,045, and amongst the notable pros seeing a return on their buy-ins was Dennis Phillips in 48th ($3,267), Jonathan Dimmig in 27th ($5,445), Jordan Cristos in 22nd ($5,445), Justin Young in 18th ($6,534), William Reynolds in 17th ($6,534), Craig Varnell in 12th ($10,165), and Shawn Sheikhan in 11th ($10,165).
After the final table of nine got underway, Ludovic Geilich subsequently dispatched Christopher Stephan to the rail in 8th, followed by Jared Hamby in 4th and Jim Petzing in 3rd to force heads-up play against Edward O’Connell for the title.
As the final battle commenced, Geilich held a 7.5m to 4.9m chip advantage over his remaining opponent, and thirty minutes is all it would then take before the deciding hand was played. In the last hand of the competition, Geilich raised preflop with A-10 only to have O’Connell move all-in holding A-K. Geilich made the call, and the board then ran out Q-10-9-3-7 to consign Edward O’Connell to a runner-up finish worth $106,366. The result, however, represents O’Connell’s best score to date, and now accounts for more than half of his career earnings of $207,555.
